Focused on Sport Pilot
LaunchPoint’s planned initial program will concentrate on sport-pilot training rather than attempting to serve every possible aviation objective from the first day.
LAUNCHPOINT AVIATION
LaunchPoint Aviation Group is developing a focused sport-pilot training program for aspiring recreational pilots in southwest Missouri and the surrounding region.
Our airport location, aircraft, instructors, schedule, and pricing are still being finalized. Join the 2027 Interest List to receive development updates and be notified when enrollment becomes available.
Joining the interest list does not enroll you, reserve a training position, or create any obligation to purchase services.
A CLEAR DEPARTURE POINT
Learning to fly can seem complicated before the first lesson ever begins. LaunchPoint is being developed to provide a clear, safety-centered entry point for people whose primary goal is recreational flying.
Our planned initial program will focus specifically on the sport-pilot certificate. That focus will allow the school to build its curriculum, student communication, and operating procedures around the needs of new and returning recreational pilots.
A LAUNCHPOINT AVIATION HERITAGE PROJECT
LaunchPoint has acquired N8777B, the 1957 Cessna 172 identified as the airplane that carried Jim Heth and Bill Burkhart through a 50-day endurance flight in 1958.
An aviation heritage and education project connecting the history of flight with the people who will shape its future.
After approximately 22 years out of service, the aircraft is beginning a transparent, safety-first evaluation and restoration. Its present condition is part of the story—and airworthiness will govern every decision.

BUILT WITH PURPOSE
LaunchPoint’s planned initial program will concentrate on sport-pilot training rather than attempting to serve every possible aviation objective from the first day.
No prior aviation experience will be required to express interest. The program is being designed for individuals beginning with their first serious step into flight training.
LaunchPoint is not yet operational. We will announce the airport, aircraft, instructors, pricing, enrollment process, and opening schedule only after those matters have been finalized.
THE PATH IS EVOLVING
Recent changes to the federal sport-pilot framework have expanded the possibilities available to recreational pilots. LaunchPoint is being developed to help prospective students understand that pathway and determine whether sport-pilot training may fit their aviation goals.
